Intro to Human Design
What is Human Design?
Human Design is a system that synthesizes Astrology, the I Ching, the Kabbalah, and the Hindu-Brahmin Chakra systems with current scientific knowledge in the fields of Quantum Physics, Astronomy, Genetics, and Biochemistry. Using the time of our birth, Human Design is able to define the forces that influence our bodies and personalities, helping us to understand the cycles, characteristics, and themes that make us who we are.
The Human Design Chart, or Bodygraph, is the map that gives us information about how the body and mind function together, how we experience energy, emotion, awareness, identity, ego, instinct, intuition, and the mind. Among many things, it can also reveal:
- How our gifts and innate abilities are organically expressed;
- Who is attractive to us and why;
- The ways in which we are fixed and consistent, what we can trust in ourselves;
- Where we are open to conditioning and coping strategies that lead to confusion, inner conflict, frustration, bitterness, anger and disappointment;
- Which characteristics are conscious and which are unconscious;
- How to make decisions using a personal navigation system;
- What role and purpose we are here to express.
Most of all, Human Design offers an opportunity to accept and surrender to what is unchangeable in us, so that we come to love, trust and rely on ourselves.
At its best, Human Design can help us to recognize and accept ourselves and each other. It can inspire and further our becoming healthy, self-loving human beings.
A core Human Design motto is “Love Yourself”. All the information found in this rich and complex system can return us to this simple possibility: to love and respect ourselves and let life unfold through us.
What is a Bodygraph?
The visual representation of your Human Design is known as a Bodygraph. It serves as a reflection of your unique self. Within the Bodygraph, you will find various components such as Centers, Channels, and Gates.
The Centers are represented by 9 distinct shapes, while the Channels are the 36 connecting lines between these Centers. The Gates are represented by the individual numbers. They go from 1 to 64. The Planets positions are 13 on each side. The right side for Personality (conscious) and left side for Design (unconscious).
The Centers can appear either white (undefined) or coloured-in (defined). When two Gates located at the ends of the same Channel become activated, they define both Centers with what is called a Channel. As a result, the two Centers connected by that Channel also become Defined, and they are visually represented by being coloured-in.
Transit Bodygraph
What is a Transit Bodygraph?
A Transit Bodygraph is a snapshot of how the positions of the planets at any given moment impact your personal Human Design chart. It shows which Gates, Channels, and Centers are activated by current planetary transits, giving insight into the energetic themes you're experiencing in the present. Unlike your natal chart, which reflects your inherent design, the Transit Bodygraph reveals the temporary influences, allowing you to align with or navigate the ongoing cosmic energies.
